IRM Consolidation/Expansion

James H. Quillen VA Medical Center, Mountain Home, TN

 

Scope: BES Design/Build, LLC (BES D/B) provided A/E services to convert 7,300 SF of Building 77 3rd Floor into an Information Resource Management (IRM) department. The project includes the conversion of an existing commercial kitchen area into a new IRM department. A/E design services include studies, investigations, consultation with VAMC personnel, program management, conceptual and schematic design/design development, and comprehensive planning.

The new area includes office space for all IRM employees, a conference room, training area, support area, supply area, shipping and receiving, and staging area. The new IRM Department includes new floor surfaces, wall layouts and ceilings.The design and modification of this occupied facility includes extensive demolition of kitchen facilities and the interior infrastructure, which includes quarry tile floors, new walls/doors, new ceilings, new HVAC, electrical and plumbing work and modification of existing systems as necessary, new smart boards in conference room area, all required new finish work, and security elements for the complete renovation. Since LEED-CI certification was an option, BES D/B selected materials that would meet the certification requirements.
