Joint Outpatient Clinic
VA Gulf Coast Veterans Health Care System, Panama City Beach, FL
Scope: BES Design/Build, LLC (BES D/B) provided design services for the design of two separate facilities; a 28,000 SF Joint Outpatient Clinic for the VA and 5,312 SF Medical Clinic space for the US Navy. The VA JOPC includes ambulatory care, dental clinic, pathology and laboratory, eye clinic, radiology and ultrasound, and a pharmacy. The Navy Medical Clinic includes preventative medicine, exam rooms, audio rooms, adult screening rooms, and a psychologist office.
The design included a building, parking, roadways, irrigation, utilities, landscaping, and signage. Construction period services included review of submittals and site visits, review of change orders and verification of payment requests. The design also included all mechanical and electrical systems. The plumbing consisted of medical gas piping, sanitary, hot, and cold water systems. The HVAC system included zoned air handlers, variable air boxes, etc. all controlled by a central computer system. The electrical system consisted of standard electrical devices (220/120V) and low-voltage systems. The low-voltage systems included CAT5 data and phone, nurse call, panic alarms, fire alarms, security entrance systems, etc.
BES D/B provided preliminary services, site and site subsurface investigative work, planning consultations and visits, master planning, schematic design, design development, preparation of contract drawings and specifications. BES D/B integrated sustainable strategies and features into the design to minimize the energy consumption of the facility; conserve resources; minimize adverse effects to the environment; and improve occupant productivity, health, and comfort to reduce the total cost ownership of the project using a whole building, life cycle approach.
