Install Occupancy Sensors

James H. Quillen VA Medical Center, Mountain Home, TN

Scope: BES Design/Build, LLC (BES D/B) provided design and construction services to remove existing occupancy sensors and replace with new, or install new occupancy sensors where none exist.

This project consisted of the installation/replacement of approximately 900 occupancy sensors for lighting control throughout the medical center campus.  In most areas (~80%), a simple infrared wall switch sensor was installed. However, in certain areas (~10%) a wall switch ultrasonic sensor was necessary to “see” around corners. In the remaining rooms (~10%), a ceiling mounted dual tech sensor was required.

BES D/B provided all technical design services, supervision, labor, materials, tools and equipment. BES D/B also performed additional miscellaneous incidental work items such as minor demolition of finished surfaces and repair of damaged surfaces (i.e. drywall, ceiling tile) as required to fully restore area of work for a complete project.

Size: 900 occupancy sensors

Cost: $176,061

Client: U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs
