Southeast Louisiana Veterans Health Care System, New Orleans, LA

BES Design/Build, LLC (BES D/B) provided design/build services for the restoration, renovation, and upgrade of the existing 25,000 SF Community Resource and Referral Center (CRRC) at the New Orleans VA Medical Center. The center includes office space, conference rooms, exam rooms, waiting areas, day rooms, depot/storage, laundry facilities, dining areas and other support space needed for the CRRC facility.

In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, the building was flooded, resulting in critical damage to its infrastructure. The infrastructure to the building had not been repaired with the exception of the fire pump, fire alarms, and sprinkler systems.

BES D/B upgraded the existing space, as well as provided electrical, Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC), mechanical telecommunications and other systems. This work included general refurbishment of the interior space and finishes, extension and/or relocation of all utilities with appropriate interconnections, HVAC, plumbing (including domestic water and sewer), mechanical, electrical, telecommunications, fire protection systems, space program, IT closet specifications, Uniform Federal Accessibility (UFS) requirements, and other utility work necessary to meet Life Safety Code for a Building Occupancy.

BES D/B completed the project 75 days earlier than the original completion date.
