Scope: BES Design/Build, LLC (BES D/B) provided design and construction services to renovate approximately 7,150 SF on the second floor of Building 200 to be utilized as enhanced use rehabilitation space.
The new treatment space includes: private office/exam rooms, 6 outpatient PTs,1 chiropractor, 2 outpatient OTs, 2 outpatient KTs, 2-4 additional private offices, 1 shared office for 4 FTE, sequestered traction unit area, and sequestered parallel bar area with privacy units.
BES D/B provided an open floor plan or “gym” style space to increase efficiency and flow between the gym and treatment/administrative rooms. The gym accommodates kinesiotherapy (KT), occupational therapy (OT) and physical therapy (PT) services. BES D/B renovated the space to accommodate a reception and waiting area for two FTE (Full Time Employees) and 10-15 patients. The renovated space also houses a multifunctional conference/V-tel/tele health room and adequate storage space for KT, PT, and OT. BES D/B developed this design with the VA design team to insure all needs and project objectives were met.
BES D/B performed field investigation and verification of existing conditions. The HVAC and plumbing systems were modified to accommodate new construction. The interior walls, ceiling grid, and VCT flooring were demolished and replaced. The interior walls were insulated for sound mitigation and above drop ceiling in exam rooms.
BES D/B provided a build out space for the waiting area and O.T. clinics for office space. A build out space for centralized storage was also provided. The existing kitchen was demolished and replaced with upgraded appliances and casework.
Data and electric was installed as required in the treatment, admin and chiropractic rooms, receptionist desk and storage room, and in the columns/chases. Modular shelving was provided at the column to be utilized by lap top computers as docking station. One wireless access point was installed to tie into the existing network with coverage to the entire rehab medicine area.
